1st Half Analysis: Super Bowl

Only 30 minutes left in the NFL season and the Ravens are leading the 49ers by a score of 21-6. The 49ers are not out of this game by any means, but it certainly isn't ideal for SF to be trailing by 15 with the Ravens receiving the 2nd half kick.

Impact players

Joe Flacco - He is currently 30 minutes from a monster deal and has played a flawless first half on the biggest stage of his career. He is making quick decisions and getting the ball out of is hands. Another half of football like this and Mr. Flacco will be well deserving of a Super Bowl MVP.

Anquan Boldin - A great clutch performer so far in these playoffs for the Ravens and he has been an extremely reliable target for Flacco. Another candidate for MVP at the halfway point.

Ed Reed - Great play by the ballhawk. With all the attention going to Ray Lewis for the past two weeks, it's good to see Ed Reed come out and make a big play in the Super Bowl.

Vernon Davis - He has really showed leadership and played a great first half for the 49ers. He's been on of the few bright spots and they need to get this playmaker the ball if they stand a chance to get back in the ballgame.

BEYONCE - Looked amazing with an amazing performance, I'm sure everyone agrees!

First Half Duds

Colin Kaepernick - This is his first season as a starter and it has shown during the first half. He needs to settle down, focus on his mechanics, and not second-guess his gut instinct. He needs to complete some passes early and often as the 2nd half begins.

LaMichael James - That fumble has been on of the bigger plays in this game so far, can't make that mistake in a game like this

49ers Playcallers - Greg Roman and Jim Harbaugh have a young QB and they certainly have called all the plays to make him look very young. They have gotten to the point by being aggressive and they will have no choice but to do so in the second half.

Rice & Gore -They both have around 10 carries for 30 yards for teams who should be much better running the ball. 2nd half playoff defense is much different then any other time and the passing games could struggle a bit in the last 30 minutes. Whether it is due to playcalling, ineffective run blocking, or just a failure to get going... these two stars need to have an impact. Rice will be featured due to the score of the game, but Gore will have to find a way to make the most out of his limited 2nd half touches.

John Harbaugh - Can't give up a chance for 3 points in the biggest game of all. I wouldn't mind the call if it was a shorter distance on 4th down. You simply can't ask you KICKER to run that far and expect him to get it. Don't hate the call completely, but don't like it at all in that situation.

Final Result

It looks bleak for the San Francisco 49ers, but they aren't completely out of this. The field goal that the Ravens don't have on the board (due to a failed fake field goal) and the field goal the 49ers kicked at the end of the half could prove to be very important. One of the best defenses in the league will have to make a stop to begin the half and give the ball to the playmaking potential of their young stud Colin Kaepernick. He will have to find Davis, Crabtree and Moss to even stand a chance. But will the 49ers pull the comeback, because if the Ravens are winning down the stretch the reality of Ray Lewis winning his final game will set in and put a massive amount of pressure on the 49ers.

My advice is to strike early and make a big play to send a message to the Ravens that this game is not over.

Prediction: SF 30, BAL 27... Let's make this an entertaining game.
