Chris Carpenter
Word around the web is that Chris Carpenter, Cardinals starting pitcher, is considering retirement after having a setback in his rehab program. Carpenter is reportedly having setbacks in his offseason throwing program and is considering retirement. GM John Mozeliak, according to Ken Rosenthal, has said Carpenter would at least miss the 2013 season. This is a big impact on the Cardinals, regardless of Carpenter's injury history the last few seasons. While the Cardinals will move ahead with their young arms in Joe Kelly and Shelby Miller among others, Carpenter was a solid vet for years. One would think Kyle Lohse might be on his way back to St. Louis. If it's a career for Carpenter, he retires a former Cy Young winner and also a late bloomer, as he was mediocre in his days with Toronto but an ace in St. Louis helping them to 2 World Series Championships.
